The original reason for the Wisconsin Dells attraction before all the amusements was the beauty of the Upper & Lower Dells themselves. The Wisconsin River cuts through a formation of Potsdam Sandstone (only found in 4 places – Potsdam, Germany, Zurich Switzerland, Upstate New York and the largest here in the Dells) leaving fantastic rock formations.
We took a 2 hour Tour Boat ride (Upper Deck) on the Upper Dells. We got off the boat twice to walk through some of the sandstone formations.
Then took a Duck Boat (WWII amphibious land / water vehicle) tour of the Lower Dells. One half the ride was on land and the other half in water.
Went to dinner at the Ishnala Supper Club “Wisconsin’s #1 Supper Club” located on Mirror Lake. Beautiful lake views from the restaurant. Nancy had the filet which she said was the best she ever had and I had the Roast Duck – very good.
